When ordering an outside mount shutter you need to add overlap to your window opening to mount your shutter. For the Beaded L Frame the recommended overlap is 2 1/4" per side for the width & height. Example if your opening is 30" W x 40" H we recommend ordering your shutter 34 1/2" W x 44 1/2" H. Do not add overlap to the bottom if you have a window sill that your shutter will rest on.

When ordering an inside mount shutter you need to take a deduction to allow your shutter to fit inside your opening. We suggest 1/4" minimum for proper clearance. You must include this deduction in the width & height you order your shutter at. Example if your opening is 30" W x 40" H you would need to order no larger than 29 3/4" W x 39 3/4" H. More of a deduction may be needed depending on the squareness of your window.

  • The Energy Guard Quick Ship Shutter is a Polyclad Wood shutter designed to deliver the look and feel of traditional wood shutters without the maintenance challenge of wood. Our WoodTex Finish gives the soft feel and look of wood but is easy to clean and guaranteed against fading, warping, cracking, and peeling.
  • Proper additions or subtractions must be made prior to entering sizes.
  • Overlap:
  • For outside mount shutters you need to add to your window opening size the proper overlap so the shutter goes past your window opening. The size entered will be the finished frame size of the shutter from outside frame edge to outside frame edge.
  • L-frame - Add 2 1/4" to all four sides.
  • 2" Decorative Frame - Add 2 1/2" to all four sides.
  • If you have windows that tilt inward or window screens that are removed from the inside you may want to add an additional 1/2" per side for outside mount frames, inside mount is not recommended.
  • Inside Mount Shutters-You need to deduct to assure your shutter will fit inside your window opening. Recommended deduction for inside mount shutters is a minimum of 1/4" from window opening width and height. Windows out of square may need more of a deduction.

If you are choosing a natural wood such as bamboo, you must accept that no two bamboo pieces are alike and they will vary. Since our Bamboo Shades are made from real bamboo wood their color and pattern can vary a great deal from a sample to the actual shade that you order. The color can vary from a mild greenish tint to a more natural brown color. The sample should be used to only get an idea of the string/ladder placement and a general feel for the products pattern.
