Measure the opening width of the door opening. Add the desired overlap per side. We suggest a minimum of 6” past the opening, 3" per side. Measure from the floor to the top of the opening. Add 4" to the height. Example: If your opening measured 70" Wide x 80" High - you would order your shade 76" Width x 84". When mounting the shade it will need to have clearance above the floor. The minimum is 1/8", however for better clearance and easier operation we suggest 3/4" clearance above the floor. To get the proper clearance when installing your brackets simply add 3/4" to the height you ordered your shade. This will be the height you will mount the top of the brackets. For this example, you would mount the top of the brackets at 84 3/4". Make sure to check for any obstructions.

Outside Mount On Wall Over Existing Trim

Measure the outside width of the trim around the door. Add the desired overlap per side. We suggest a minimum of 4” past the trim, 2" per side. Measure from the floor to the top of the trim. Add 2" to the height. Example: If your trim measured 70" Wide x 82" High - you would order your shade 74" Width x 84". When mounting the shade it will need to have clearance above the floor. The minimum is 1/8", however for better clearance and easier operation we suggest 3/4" clearance above the floor. To get the proper clearance when installing your brackets simply add 3/4" to the height you ordered your shade. This will be the height you will mount the top of the brackets. For this example, you would mount the top of the brackets at 84 3/4". When mounting on wall over existing trim we suggest ordering spacer blocks. Make sure to check for any obstructions.

Bamboo Shades Disclaimer: Bamboo products are especially prone to color variances and we cannot be responsible for dye lot variations. If you are choosing a natural wood such as bamboo, you must accept that no two bamboo pieces are alike and they will vary. Since our Bamboo Shades are made from real bamboo wood their color and pattern can vary a great deal from a sample to the actual shade that you order. The color can vary from a mild greenish tint to a more natural brown color. The sample should be used to only get an idea of the string/ladder placement and a general feel for the products pattern.
